It appears a snow squall came thru at the Keystone Resort because when we got there at 8:30am, a fresh coat of snow covered the groomed trails. Because of the light, the skiing conditions were terrible. We only skied about 4 or 5 runs before we called it a day. At the Summit House it appeared that they were getting ready for a outdoor lunch party for the Go Big Burger.  In the afternoon, I went to the Dam Brewery to make arrangements for my Leap Year birthday party. Drinks and appetizers on me from 4pm to 6pm (Happy Hours). I had about 30 of my friends at the bar and we had a good time singing Happy Birthday. While my birthday is really on Saturday, we had it today because that is when everyone was available. Maybe I will celebrate again on Saturday

The day started with overcast conditions with mild temps. The sun didn’t come out all day and there were occasional snow flurries and some rain drops. It was another big snow melt day. There were ponds of melted snow everywhere. After Mass this morning we walked by the lake and saw many families out in the snow with one family making a castle out of snow blocks. It was a very lazy afternoon. As we got ready to go out to the Sauce Restaurant for happy hour around 5pm, it started to snow and we quickly changed our plans and stayed in. The forecast called for snow starting late afternoon and continuing into tomorrow morning. As we looked out our back window, we saw a continuous line of cars coming from Keystone and trying to get East bound on I70.The sign indicated that it was at least a 2 hour trip. I am glad that we don’t need to make this trip.

Wednesday 03/04

Another Blue Bird morning. I haven’t had to clean off my car in days. And with no snow in the forecast until Sunday, there will be a lot of melting and refreezing in the morning. There are many signs of the melting snow and ice especially the Ice Castles. They will be closing this weekend because of the weather. We went to Copper Mtn in the afternoon and walked the village and when to JJ’s and saw the Lefty Lucie show which includes dancing on the bar and of course the shot ski. As we were returning to the car thru the village we saw a remarkable sight. It was a railing that had about a foot of snow just hanging from it. Just reminds you to always be careful. It was another funday.

Monday Jan 13

Monday turned out to be a cloudy and snowy day. Morning temps were around 15 degrees and ended in the mid-20s. In the morning we continued to put things away in the condo and picked up our skis. We also went to Walmart to pick up additional items for the condo. In our parking lot, a video team was taking pictures and video of snowboarders flying down a ramp and down the rails of the stairway. It was fun watching them. In the late afternoon, we got ready to go to the Dam Brewery to meet some of our friends from last year. They were all there. After a lot of talk and a few beers, we returned home to watch the Clemson-LSU football game. It was an exciting game and LSU proved to be the better team. Hopefully tomorrow will be our first day skiing.
